Apparently I need a lot! Sydney is my favourite city in Australia, and the the thing I love most about it is the Sydney Opera House. We stayed in the Rocks which was a great location, just a few minutes away from the Harbour and Circular Quay and a brisk walk into the city. So I had plenty of opportunity to take photos of the Opera House. There is actually the tiniest glimpse of the Opera House in this photo, I wonder if you can see it! 

If you are a traveller like me and suffer from FOMO your preference would be to plan every second of every day. Papa Bear and I don’t have the same attitude towards travel, his is more fluid, so much of my planning is done in secret and nonchalantly dropped in the ‘what will we do tomorrow’ conversation. The trouble is much of my planning was done at home where there were blue skies and balmy days. Things like a ferry trip tp Manly or Watsons Bay to eat fish and chips on the lawn overlooking the seaside. Hmmmm, by the look of this sky there won’t be any travelling on a ferry today!

But there was enough blue sky for a walk around Dawes Point Park and under the Sydney Harbour Bridge

The day of Hamilton was another overcast day but I was much too excited to let that dampen my spirits. We chose to walk to the Lyric Theatre which took us through Darling Harbour

And at last we were, there two hours early, but hey, you don’t want to be late! What if you get a flat tyre?

The theatre was booked to 100% capacity and we had to wear masks, but that was a small price to pay to see an epic show that is not playing anywhere else in the world.

I have to say I was a bit worried. I don’t know why, I have seen Phantom and Les Mis all over the world and the Australian performances were every bit as good, if not better than many of them. This Australian cast, they didn’t let us down. It was a fabulous performance, the joy and energy, the emotion of the story, the laughter and the tears, it was all there. I don’t know how many of you reading this are familiar with the show, but our Aaron Burr, sir, was phenomenal and “The Room where it Happened” the stand out song.

And could the day get any better? Look what I found in the programme!

Of course no holiday is complete without lots of yummy food and drinks. We had a delicious meal with friends at the Cafe Sydney overlooking the harbour and the Bridge. I didn’t take any photos but it is well worth a visit. Check it out here

Instead of fish and chips on the lawn we had Mexican at Mejico, best margaritas ever!

What a great place to spend an evening, or two! We sampled the James Squires beers and had nibbles overlooking the Opera House

And the best thing! You know how sometimes in a crowded bar you fancy chicken wings or chips but you can’t be bothered fighting your way to the bar or catch the eye of a waiter to order food? Not a problem, download the Myy app, choose your location , browse the menu, order, pay by credit card, wham bam! There’s your food! Magic! Its probably not that amazing to anyone who lives in a city, but for a country girl like me……..woah!

As it turned out I think I took more photos of the Bridge than the Opera House!
