We are actually in New York right now and while I’ve just left Portland with my posts, I just had to jump ahead and share this now.
We have just returned from our first ever NFL game, NY Giants v New Orleans Saints.
This was our proposed time line.
2:30 Leave apartment to walk to bus station.
2:45 Find shuttle bus for football.
3:00 Depart for football.
3:30 Arrive at football and look around stadium, buy a beer and hot dog, and perhaps a big foam finger!
4:00 Make our way leisurely to our seats.
4:25 Enjoy the start of the game.
And this was our actual time line
2:30 Leave apartment, get lost, end up at train station instead of bus station
3:00 Find bus station, get lost in station looking for our Gate
3:15 Find the very long line for the bus, think it might be a 15 -20 minute wait

3:30 Still waiting in line

4:00 Still waiting in line

4:10 Yay! On the bus!
4:45: Arrive at football, race to the stadium and take two really really high elevators to our section
4:55: Arrive at seats half way through second quarter!
Random thoughts and observations while waiting in line!
- The relationship of the couple behind us may not last the wait! He sits on the floor while she flutters around asking if he is upset and whether he wants to get an Uber. He says why would would they do that, they’ve already spent $28 to wait in **** line.
- A couple a bit in front of us, on the other hand, are indulging in excessive PDA, get a room while you’re waiting I say
- The guy with grey hair and his wrist in plaster spends his time striding hopefully up the line, and dejectedly back down the line. We figure we aren’t getting close to the bus.
- A group of Giants fans wander along the line, loiter a bit, then try and casually merge. Not in a million years.
- Some kids somewhere behind are playing a cute clapping game “Double double ice ice, double double cream cream, double ice, double cream, double double ice cream.” Well for the first few times it was cute, after half an hour I know just where you want them to shove that double ice cream!
- The thought arises that maybe we should just have stayed in a bar and watched it……
But when we walked into our section of the stadium to the roars of the Giants fans………it was all worth it!
Such fun watching people isn’t it?
Glad it worth the wait in the end!
