I’m not sure when, but at some stage today we passed 200kms. How amazing is that, it hardly seems any time since left St Jean.
Although my back was feeling much better I decided to send my backpack on. and what a lovely day’s walk it was , mostly!!
A lovely walk 8 km through the vineyards in the morning took us to Ventosa for breakfast where I ordered tostado con aceite tomate which I figured would include slices of tomato. Instead it was a small container of tomato pulp in olive oil, surprisingly yummy although I could have done with more containers.
A couple of kilometres out of the village we stopped at a van for crepes, I asked for azucar con limon on my crepe which amused them greatly.
Before long we were on the outskirts of Najera, apparently!

D1 and I stopped in a bar for a coke where we watched Master Chef – apparently it was the offal and feet challenge, I’d love to have seen what the contestants produced.
A number of pilgrims we had been travelling with over the past few days were staying in Najera, and who knows if we will see them again. it’s the way of the Camino, some pilgrims you are on Buen Camino terms while others you eat, drink and chat with. Zigzag Lyn was staying in Najera, we’ve spent some time with her, hopefully we will catch up in Burgos.
The afternoon was not quite so pleasant, there were some big hills, up and down,
But I loved the plane trails over the vineyards.
On our way into our sleep for the night, Azofra, we passed the Poor Australian lady whose legs and feet were giving her a lot of pain, she was doing the Camino shuffle into the village and I felt so sorry for her, been there done that!
We enjoyed dinner, then some vino tinto with some Australians, good to hear the Aussie accent and way of speaking!

A pilgrim is grateful – this pilgrim is grateful that she is not the Poor Australian lady this time!
Doing well Trish! What is the difference this time (why no blisters) do you think? Love the look of all the food, at least with all the walking you can eat your heart out and not put on an ounce! Go you
Congratulations 200 down what a great feelingplenty of antiinflammatory s before bed .
I think doing the long walks before I left, making sure my boots were right was the best think I did. Plus stretching every day.
You can never have too many inflammatories!
Awesome effort ladies – 2oo kms is already behind you! Great photos.
