I have been in Japan for 13 hours, people have been very friendly and helpful and I already have a new BFF. I don’t know what her name is but she lives in the information booth on 1BF at Narita Airport. She is ever so friendly and helpful every time I get lost and can’t find my way back to the 9 Hours Capsule Hotel. Which is every time I step outside into the terminal.
I loved the holes in the wall hotel, it was so peaceful, not a noise from outside and I didn’t hear one person speak in the 9 hrs I was inside. Only one tiny negative, there was nowhere to charge my phone, well yes, I know, for me it is quite a large negative, I was forced to get up early and sit in the bathroom to charge it.

Everyone was issued with a grey nightdress and I must admit when there were a few of us walking around the capsule area I felt a bit like a prisoner in a sci-fi movie! The next morning I was up bright and early, ready to face the challenge of validating my Japan Rail Pass and getting from Narita to Haneda Airport. Once again my BFF came to the rescue, I found out it was too early to change my pass, I had to catch a bus and I could get my bus ticket at that machine over there. Well whoever said it was easy getting around in Japan because there were lots of signs in English obviously had never tried to get a bus ticket from this machine!!
Finally I found someone who helped me get the ticket and showed me the bus stop. I was brought into the line by three lovely elderly ladies, who were most concerned when I realised with 5 minutes to go I needed to use the toilet before the hour and a half trip. I thought I was going to be held captive and desperate in the line, but eventually one of the ladies accompanied me, fortunately not right into the cubicle, while another one had a long animated chat with the bus driver, presumably making sure the bus driver didn’t go without us.
Finally on the bus, step one on my trip to meet my girls.
Funny how clothes can change the way we view someone! I mean if I didn’t know U I’d say you were an inmate somewhere!! Can’t wait to hear about the bus trip.
That’s how I felt, silent and nameless in my hole in the wall
