It was Mother’s Day in Australia and I enjoyed breakfast (not in bed!) and a Mother’s Day phone call from home before setting off.
Today we both felt like real pilgrims. The back of D2’s arms and legs were a rosy pink, the result of yesterday’s sun, and I was carrying my socks on the outside of my backpack because they weren’t quite dry!
It was quite a cool day so we walked quite briskly for a while, until we started walking through a path lined with beautiful trees and flowers. D2, trusting that mamá would not get lost after yesterday’s adventure, set off with her iPod, while I meandered, enjoying the birdsong and gorgeous flowers.
Don’t know what these were but the fragrance was gorgeous
The path left the woodlands and headed into more open countryside but the flowers and herbs were still beautiful
Looked like thyme, smelled like mint
By the time I reached the first town for coffee I had gathered quite a posy of flowers.
After coffee my meandering continued, through fields, grape vines, more woodlands, a lovely morning.
Time to stock up on Hikers Wool
As soon as I touched it the smell reminded me of Nonnas around Fremantle collecting aniseed to make their liqueur
Hi Loved the flowers, the beauty of walking, one doesn’t get to see things in the same way when one drives. I do love poppy’s. Keep up the good work, you are inspireing me to do more in my life. Joyce
I’m so glad Joyce, just take the first step!
